• Alhambra Municipal Golf Course - 630 S Almansor St, Alhambra, CA 91801, (626)570-5059, public. The design of this course will be a good test for any serious golfer. There is plenty of water and out-of-bounds that will punish you for erratic shots, especially off the tee. Because of the narrow fairways, course management is much more important than distance.
• Altadena Golf Club - 1456 East Mendocino Street Altadena, CA 91001 626-797-3821.
• Annandale Golf Course - 1 N San Rafael Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105, (626)795-8253, private. This regulation course has narrow fairways and fast greens. Either water hazards or greenside bunkers surround at least half the greens. The course has been redesigned or remodeled several times.
• Arcadia Golf Course -  620 E Live Oak Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006, (626)443-9367, public. This is a very enjoyable course to play. This is a good beginner's course with fast greens. Most holes are well bunkered, and water hazards come into play on a few holes.
• Brookside Golf Club - 1133 N Rosemont Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103, (626)796-8151, public. This facility offers two regulation eighteen hole courses. The Number One Course has large greens that are elevated and well bunkered. The rough bordering the fairways is thick and heavy. Furthermore, four ponds or a barranca come into play on ten holes. The Number Two Course is shorter, more well bunkered and tighter than the Number One Course. The terrain is flat, but the greens and tee boxes are slightly elevated.
• Chevy Chase Country Club - 3067 E Chevy Chase Dr, Glendale, CA 91206, (818)244-8461, private. This course is very narrow with tree-lined fairways. The signature hole is #7, a 346-yard, par 4.
• Eaton Canyon Golf Course - 1150 N Sierra Madre Villa Ave, Pasadena, CA 91107, (626)794-6773, public. This course plays up and down the hills. There is a flood control channel that comes into play on five holes, including #3, a 164-yard, par 3, which requires golfers to hit over the channel to reach the green. The fairways generally slope from left to right. Great views of the San Gabriel Mountains are offered from just about anywhere on the course.
• Oakmont Country Club - 3100 Country Club Dr, Glendale, CA 91208, (818)542-4292, private. This course is located in the greenest part of California. The greens are very fast. The course has many sand bunkers and on a couple of occasions you must hit over two barranca areas.
• Santa Anita Golf Course - 405 S Santa Anita Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006, (626)447-2331, public. Santa Anita is located just up the street from the famous horse racing track that shares the same name. This scenic course is situated just below the majestic San Gabriel Mountains. However, since the natural surrounding terrain is flat, man-made mounding was added to create many uneven lies. Mature pine and oak trees line each of the narrow fairways.
• Scholl Canyon Golf & Tennis Club - 3800 E Glenoaks Blvd, Glendale, CA 91206, (818)956-4043, public. This narrow executive course has undulating fairways which will cause many uneven lies. The back nine is more hilly than the front nine. The greens are average-sized.
